London Maritime Arbitrators Association ("the LMAA")

The LMAA is an association of practising maritime arbitrators. It has 39 full members who are full-time maritime arbitrators with backgrounds in different aspects of the maritime industry, from seagoing experience (deck and engine), through shipbroking and ship management to maritime litigation and judicial experience of maritime disputes.

Details of each of the full members can be found on the LMAA website at: www.lmaa.org.uk

The LMAA has Procedures for Small Claims ('SCP') and Intermediate Claims ("ICP"). Details of the SCP, ICP and the Terms are also available on the LMAA website.

The LMAA does not administer references conducted on its Terms. Each tribunal has autonomy over its own reference. Statistical returns from full members indicate that in 2014 over 3,500 appointments were received and 584 awards published. This is well over twice the number of appointments and awards published in all other maritime arbitration centres in the world combined.

The LMAA also has its own Mediation Terms.

SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP

In all its work the LMAA is considerably aided by its supporting members, currently numbering around 700 worldwide. They are drawn from those ancillary services and professions that are needed for the well-being of arbitration.

They receive information about the LMAA's activities through a regular newsletter and summaries of some of the more interesting awards published. They are also entitled to attend the annual luncheon (in November) and dinner (in March) each year.

Those interested in supporting membership should contact the LMAA Secretariat at:
